Lisboa - Santos Populares

June is the month of the "Santos Populares" with parties across the country in St. Anthony nights, St. John and St. Peter.
Major animation festivals, where pretty much everyone come to the streets to eat, drink and have fun in the streets, all adorned with balloons, ribbons, colorful balloons and smells of basil and grilled sardines.

Lisbon is so pretty.

Lisboa fica tão bonita.

Just a little bit

Some new pictures from my one day get away to the so lovely Ericeira! <3
No matter How windy it is I still freaking love to seat outside savoring the salty ocean smell.
So ridiculous charming as I've show before here and here

I want what I won't have.  I want a dream, I want what I once thought and I'm full aware now that it was never the reality. Comfortable, cozy, warm, challenging, honest and peaceful. I'm chasing a dream. But. Just a little bit, a little bit is all I'm asking for.

Oh well what an odd day for me.

At the hard rock cafe

Hi Bloggers!
Last Sunday afternoon well past 16h I was taken blindly to Lisbon without anyone telling me exactly where we were going: a surprise! I was over the moon when I found out we were going to the hard rock cafe in Lisbon, one of my favourite places to go out at night or simply have the friendly cup of coffee. I love the vibe, being me a rock fan the hard rock is practically heaven for me with it's walls full of history and clothes, guitars and other props from the rock gods.
It's a huge hard rock cafe with it's two floors, the friendly service is well known to the hard rock customers, the food is freaking huge, the music is obliviously of very good taste and did I mention there's an entire Cadillac hanging from the celling?

Here's my snack! A freaking huge brownie, with vanilla ice cream, fresh cream, nuts, delicious warm & melted chocolate, sprinkles and of course a cherry on top of it all! A snack for two no doubt, for around 8 euros yes a bit too much but it's really damn good and quite honestly you don't have the hunger or space for diner after...I know I didn't, and even the lovely waitress teased me wishing me a good dinner ahahahah

Definitely a place to visit! I believe it's bigger than the hard rock of London even though they have an entire basement below their shop full /packed with more valuable stars goods but it's England for crying out loud. Other than the Lisbon I've only been in London
What's your favorite?
Have a good an productive week

Lisboa menina e moça...

Hello gorgeous! How have you been?
My holidays are gone, I'm back at uni. I was sorta of fed up with not having anything new and challenging to do but I'm not excited with the prospect of exams either, or facing some teachers either :/
With that being said, I want those colder days to arrive. Summer is great and all, but I want to wear scarf, boots, jackets. I want those shorter days back and honestly I most certainly do not want to use the public transportation or to be out all day while it's hot. It's suffering. It really is. I'm telling you I'm gonna end up melted down in a puddle of water by the train during one of these hot summer days :D And I'm not including the traditional hot and heavy and black college attire.

Confeitaria Nacional a classic! But with tiny desserts at least to me they are!

Yummy

I saw the tourists glued to the pastry's windows lusting after our tasteful cakes and happy to be doing the photosynthesis. And me thinking, yes this is my capital!
It's beautiful, one of a Kind.
There's a higher variety of shops, higher quality at a smaller price (at least compared to where I live ). From what I saw there were some great deals on wedges, sandals specially at Calçado Guimarães. But I didn't buy anything, not even shoes. The shops are still full of summer stuff so there's nothing for the upcoming season for the next week. Which it was what I wanted. I'll have to wait.

What about you. Where to you buy your clothes / shoes?
Do you buy when you feel the need, or you do it like me and buy beforehand and stop there?
Have a good weekend

Sailboats and Caldas da Rainha

Hello my beloved!
How have u been??Hope everything's fine with you. I'm almost over with my internship, shame since i'm loving it but also excited as well to finally have my much deserved and wanted vacation!!
But i still managed to get a couple get-away during the weekend, one to the lovely and characteristic Caldas da Rainha, a small village with a huge garden, market always full with fresh and cheap veggies, shop windows showing traditional pottery and also amazing pastries with their regional /characteristic bakes.
And the other get away, well sorta of, i participated as a volunteer in the Tall Ships races in Lisbon, basically the event consists of a race between sail boats from Europe every year and it so happens that one of the stops they've chosen these year was Lisbon.

Here is the traditional pastries: Cavacas, originally made in the convents, these treat is made of eggs, sugar (lots of it), it's kinda of dry but sweet, no filling.

I ended up going for a pastrie traditional from Aveiro, with a shape of a boat, made with egg sweet and almond, delicious!

So a parade of more than 40 boats filled Santa Apolónia in Lisbon. I participated as a visitor's backup making sure no one passed out due to the ever high temperatures or get lost.
The event lasted 4 days,  19-22 of July and although i was only there the last 2 days i loved it. It wasn't something u see everyday, so many sail boats, some huge, others a replica of older days, each crew with it's own apparel. It was definitely something else.

Warning: the next photos clearly are not mine, nor were they taking by me, but they were kindly passed to me by the organization of the event.

The pirates, entertaining the crowd, stealing smiles and sometimes  stealing from the sceptics accusation glances. aha. Congratulations to the group 'cus it was over 30ºC and they still wore those heavy costumes, even i got me a sunburn, on my left ear :/

They left after the 4th day, but not before they gave us a parade down the river. Now that was an image i've never seen before, they were so many!
Gorgeous view right?!

Some of the larger boats, so u can get a picture of how huge they were.It was a success.I loved it!
Please if u can always visit these kind of events, specially when they're free, u'll have a blast and see /learn something extra.

Hope u've liked these post. I may take a while to post, but when i do, i do it with love and great pleasure, and only when i think it's worth showing it!

Have a great weekend!

Ice cream and Beach!

Costa Caparica, First day on the beach!
Hello there my beloved!!
Yes i know i've been neglecting, but i've just finished my exams (i've done it all yeeh) and now i'm on my intern-ship on a pharmacy so yeah things have been busy, but u know what i love it, i like to attend the customers / patients, although i have to be "on my toes" all the time and be extra, extra, extra careful and it's kinda hard to be standing all those hours:P
Meanwhile on the weekends i've been enjoying the lovely sun that blesses my country specially during the summer, and went to the beach had some ice-cream all pleasures!

The oh so famous ice cream shop "Santinis" in down tow Cascais, delights both locals and tourists. There's also one Santinis in Lisbon, Baixa-Chiado. The shop is already worldwide know, must tourists arrive with the intention to visit it, so yeah inside u can hear 5 different languages at the same time! And don't be surprise if the waiting line goes outside the shop and sometimes (i've seen it), goes around the block!

Hand made ice-cream with flavours of the day, huge variety to choose from, and they are the BEST!!!Seriously, although not cheap, at least when u eat let say pistachio it tastes like pistachio with little beans in the middle and not a diluted ice-cream.
And if u're undecided you can and should ask to get a little, plastic spoon to try, i know i did it, they were super nice with me.

I hope u're enjoying your summer, if that's the case!
Gets lots of sun! (with sun cream on obviously:p)
