All enthusiasts and lovers of the Ancient Rome series dream about with the day they get to finally visit the Roman Forum (myself included). I wanted to go there so bad, you can't imagine!
After a morning well spent visiting the Pantheon and a simple lunch there we were at 3pm at the venue ready to start the tour.

Looks full of cannon holes doesn't it? I was already thinking "wars, the international law wasn't respected and such but NO
The Colosseum had (about only 30% is left) the oldest anti seismic worldwide, tested, since it withstand an earthquake of 7.5 on the Ricther's scale. Basically consisted of an iron with its ends covered by volcanic rock (pumice type) embedded between two stones. It turns out that during the 300 years after the fall of the Roman Empire, along with the theft, reuse of materials and pure abandonment, someone remembered to dig holes into the stones to pull the iron out to melt it, hence the holes around the Colosseum.

They were way ahead they even placed, beneath the sand of the arena, a kind of clay to absorb the blood  in order to keep it from falling on the people who were underneath.

Has 80 entries (only 3-4  are still numbered ), even once had a gigantic awning, the velarium, which protected the spectators from the scorching summer sun, free entry to all Romans, seated according to their social status. It was simple when the people began to exceedingly murmur, 100 days of shows were organized to entertained them. And yes, only withstood what you see because it was transformed into a Christian church, several in fact, you can still see frescos in various arcades.

The so famous Constantine's Arc de Triomphe built by the same in 315 AD to commemorate the victory over Maxênico and freedom of worship granted to Christians. In fact many of the sculptures were availed from earlier works.

Is represented,on the inner side wall, the triumphal procession with the spoils resulting from the plundering made in the Solomon's temple. The roman solders carry a gold candelabra with 7 arms, of which the Bible speaks, the silver trumpets used to crumble the walls of Jericho and at the end, the Solomon'stable where the loaves were placed.
